Moments that Matter - Moments to Learn

Our theme Moments to Learn inspires us to reminisce about the old school days as well as the learning we do throughout life. From blackboards and chalk, assignments and graduations through to lessons taught through life experiences - there is so much to reflect upon.

Naturally though, there are no limits on the topics you choose to scrapbook this weekend – the choice is yours!

Moments that Matter weekends are all about having a great scrapbooking time, learning new techniques, joining with other scrapbooking friends new and old and having time to settle back and relax in your own space.

After the popularity of the previous weekend escapes, don’t leave it too late to register as our weekends sell out fast! We are confident that you will enjoy Moments that Matter – Moments to Learn!

Theme - Moments to Learn

As we go through life we are continually learning whether through study or life experiences. School days in particular shape so much of our lives. Moments to Learn is a great opportunity reminisce about the old school days for yourself or the 'new' school days for the more recent additions to your family. However, we have taken a much broader approach to learning as we appreciate all the other learning experiences we have along the way. Perhaps this weekend will even inspire you to learn new skills or knowledge or even tackle a scrapbooking technique you haven't tried before!

You will not be disappointed as you scrap away from Friday night to Sunday afternoon, discover new techniques and ideas from creative presenters, and be inspired by those friendly participants around you. There is no time like the present to record those precious memories.

Workshops, Presenters and Demonstrations

There are some great workshops and sessions on offer for the Moments to Learnweekend.  Our presenters will include local scrapbookers, complemented by a visit from our favourite Queensland scrapbooker Lin Smith.  Workshop examples are drawn from experienced scrapbookers with a variety styles. Weekend Details

*When full weekend tickets are purchased before Friday 1 May 2009 the Early Bird price will apply (not including twinshare). The first 10 weekend participants to register will also receive an extra bonus gift on arrival.

**Twinshare is sharing with 1 other person rather than up to 3 others. Each nominated person needs to pay the twin share rate. Twinshare rooms are limited.

Purchase of Tickets and Registration

Tickets can be purchased by printing the registration form/info sheet below and by posting a cheque, paying cash in person or electronic funds transfer (specific details listed below). Tickets will be available for purchase up until Friday 31 May 2009 unless sold out prior to this date. A waiting list is kept, so please register your interest by email or phone if tickets are no longer available.

3. Post in the registration form within four days of payment to be correctly registered.

Accomodation

Greenhills Conference Centre is set out in a tranquil location off the Cotter Road. It is about a 10 minute drive from Canberra.

Accomodation is available in 2 (twinshare price applies), and 4 person rooms. If you wish to share a room with particular people please nominate your preference on the registration form. Where possible all needs will be accomodated. However, those who register early will be given preference.

Other details

There will be opportunities to share your own ideas as well as learn from others.

Imagine spending a weekend with friends - doing what you love best, creating beautiful and memorable scrapbooking pages.

Places are limited, and tickets are available for the whole weekend or day visits on the Saturday. Registration forms are available above.

This is a non-profit weekend. Any remaining funds from the sale of tickets will help purchase resources for participants to use at future events. Also, we like to support a charity on each occasion. See next column near the top for this weekend's charity.

Why have scrapbooking weekends?

Cathy and the team of organisers of Moments that Matter events just love scrapbooking. They would love other people to join them in enjoying this wonderfully creative craft. What better way than to organise weekend events.

These events are non-profit. Any remaining funds left over from the weekends goes towards purchasing equipment and resources for future weekends that can be used by participants. Also, a charity is selected to receive a donation as a result of the weekend.

Charity
- The Sunrise Children's project

The Sunrise Children’s Project helps orphans and children from extremely poor families in Uganda to attend school. It currently has temporary mud buildings, educating 230 children. Although an ambitious undertaking it is thriving under inspired support including co-founder, Briony Kaczmarek, a young Canberra teacher.

Funds are being raised for permanent buildings and a farm to grow food to feed the children, with future plans for an orphanage and medical facilities. A truly inspirational organisation!
