Mark 10:13-16 (NIV)
People were bringing their little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV)
Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Titus 2:4-8
Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Similarly, encourage the young men to be self controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those that oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
Role of Youth and Children’s Ministry at Brindabella Baptist Church
· help bring young people in the church and local area to faith in Christ;
· to nurture young Christians in their walk with God, and
· to help Youth and children to discover God’s purpose for them
Role of the Youth & Children’s Ministry Leader
- To build and lead a team of appropriately gifted and passionate people who will work together to develop and implement strategies that present the gospel to and nurture faith in young people:
- Kids Club
- On Target (school years 4, 5 & 6)
- youth (school years 7-10), and
- young adults (Year 11 – 25 years of age);
- to develop and implement a vision for ministry to young people as part of the overall vision for ministry at Brindabella
- Identify and train Brindabellans with appropriate gifts and passion to work in teams to minister to youth and young adults;
- Mentor the children & youth leadership team members;
- Oversee and manage youth interns;
- Develop and promote understanding and communication between youth, young adults and the church as a whole; and
- See that mechanisms are in place to ensure that Brindabella complies with all its legal Duty of Care obligations to youth aged 12-18 (Years 7 +)
- Works with Youth and Young Adults Ministry Leaders; and
- The wider church body has a responsibility to support, encourage and partner with the youth pastor, and the youth pastor needs to be responsive to the congregation.
