Brindabella Baptist Church Core Value

Practices creative worship and celebration of God’s presence  – celebrate God’s presence as an inclusive worshipping community. We will provide an opportunity for each person to connect with God in their own worship language. We will be creative in our worship, using diverse forms that engage all five senses. We seek to be open to the Spirit’s leading and transforming power.

Relevant Scriptures

We are created to worship (1 Chronicles 16: 28-29):
Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength, ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendour of his holiness

God wants us to worship in Spirit and Truth [John 4:23 (The Message)]:
Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That's the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration."

All believers are called to declare God’s praises (1 Peter 2:9):
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Children’s praise is ordained by God:
Matthew 21:16: Do you hear what these children are saying? they asked him.  "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read ‘from the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise?’ ”

Our worship is to be built on prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18):
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

God wants us to worship with pure motives (Genesis 8.21):
Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

We are to have undivided hearts as we worship God:
Psalm 86:11Train me, God, to walk straight; then I'll follow your true path. Put me together, one heart and mind; then, undivided, I'll worship in joyful fear.
Psalm 138:1 -2: I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise.  I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.

We are to proclaim the greatness, the power and the love of God as we worship:
John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Psalm 145:6-9 (The Message)]: Your marvellous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness. The fame of your goodness spreads across the country; your righteousness is on everyone's lips. God is all mercy and grace - not quick to anger, is rich in love. God is good to one and all; everything he does is suffused with grace.

We are called to remember and celebrate God’s faithfulness and presence in our lives:
1 Chronicles 16: … Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among all peoples. ….
1 Chronicles 15-16David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers to sing joyful songs, accompanied by musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.
1 Chronicles 28-29:  So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams' horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps.
1 Chronicles 16: 8-36Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Psalm 103Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's …

Scripture is to play an important part in our corporate worship as it does in other areas of our church (2 Timothy 3:16):
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
